1. Does HIV/AIDS spread by kissing ?
 
No, the chances are very rare that too because of the presence of the oral ulcers in the uninfected partner when there is an exchange of saliva while kissing between the two partners.
 
2. What are the risky behaviours related to acquisition of HIV/AIDS ?
 
Multiple sexual partners, blood transfusion, sharing needles,anal sex, sex with a cemmercial sex worker etc.
 
3. After spilling how long the blood remains infectious ?
 
The blood remains infectious till it becomes completely dry.
 
4. Is dried semen infectious ?
 
No, once the semen is dry the virus in it get killed.
 
5. What are the main routes of HIV transmission ?
 
Universal safety precautions should be followed while handling the dead body no attempt should be made to give bath to the dead body.
 
6. Does AIDS spread by sharing the same razors ?
 
No. the chances are very rare of the exchange of blood between the two individuals who use the same razor.

Yes, the virus is present in cerebro-spinal fluids, amniotic fluid, vaginal secretions.

Circumcision has shown to give protection to men from acquiring infection.The foreskin contain certain receptor cells which aid in the entry of the virus into the body and it also provides more space where the virus can stay for a longer time.
 
9. What is meant by "window period" ?
 
It is the period after the virus enters the body and the body poduces the antibody against the virus which are detected in the blood. It ranges from 6weeks to 12 weeks. It is important in relation to acquisition of HIV because a persons may be infected but his/her blood test may be negative. At the same the infected person can pass on the infection to his/her to the others.
 
10. Can an HIV infected mother kiss the child?
 
Yes, there is no harm to the child.
 
11. What is meant by safe sex?
 
Use of condoms, masturbation, mutual masturbation, non-penetrative sex are the different forms of safe sex practices.
 
12. Is HIV disease inherited ?
 
No, HIV is not inherited.
 
13. Does masturbation lead to physical weakness ?
 
No, it does not lead to weakness in fact this is the safe method of satisfying once sexual urge.
 
14. Why pre-test and post-test counselling is essential at the time of HIV testing?
 
HIV/AIDS is associated with stigma and fear. Hence it is essential that the persons are fully informed about the disease, the various tests for HIV diagnosis and the consequences of the HIV testing. They should make a informed decision whether to test or not. The post- test also provides the opportunity to give the emotional support and stress the need for behaviour change.
